Welcome to FhP AICOS

Welcome to the homepage of the Fraunhofer Portugal Research Center for Assistive Information and Communication Solutions, the first research center operated by “Associação Fraunhofer Portugal Research”.

Our core purpose is to democratize access to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) through the development of market-oriented, commercially successful, applied R&D assistive solutions.

We have started our activities in May 2008 as a joint project between the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft and the University of Porto.

We are currently hosted by the Computer Science department of the Faculty of Science on the Campo Alegre Campus. AICOS focuses in the area of assistive environments and contributes with solutions that address private and professional users currently having no or little access to information and communication technologies.
