Open Day at Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS highlights cooperation opportunities within Industry 4.0

An Open Day event organized by FhP-AICOS under the scope of the project CTFhP – Collective Transfer FhP, took place last Tuesday, with a programme of activities open to the public, and aimed at companies and professionals within Industry 4.0.

 

"Applied R&D in Industry 4.0" was the theme of this Open Day, that brought together representatives from various industries, including Oil and Gas, Laminates or Electronics, as well as researchers and developers.

Pedro Almeida, member of Fraunhofer Portugal’s Executive Board, welcomed the guests and presented FhP-AICOS, highlighting the work developed in various areas of Information and Communication Technology with applicability in the industry, as well as the multiple benefits the institution has to offer potential partners and clients.

From the corporate side, SONAE Indústria, Critical Manufacturing and GALP stepped forward to give their testimony regarding the major challenges they face in the context of Industry 4.0 in the short and medium term, such as the need to find new ways to capture and take advantage of the vast information produced in production processes, and the need to optimize them. During the event, participants also had the opportunity to see several of FhP-AICOS’ latest technologies with applicability in the industry 4.0, alongside with the possibility to discuss ideas and interact with researchers.

The event took place within the Collective Transfer initiative – a project co-financed by Norte 2020, Portugal 2020 and the European Union (ERDF) – which aims to promote the results of applied research projects and the contribution of these researches to the development of society.
