Hub40 – IoT for industry 4.0

Description:

From data generated through IoT emerges security problems like timely updates – difficulty in keeping systems up to date and incident management – identifying suspicious traffic patterns among legitimate ones and possible failure to capture unidentifiable incidents. The thesis will address these topics by simplifying the registration of different devices and keeping them updated with the last firmware versions. Another challenge is to provide data integration with a single view of the data arriving from different sources and device types, like smartphones, sensors and gateways.

Outcome:

We propose to develop tools for exposure data analysis in the workplace, building on the concepts of Positive Ergonomics, Operator 4.0 and on the Job Quality Indices by the Eurofound, by collecting and visualizing data on the physical environment, work intensity, working time, social environment, skills and discretion, career prospects, and earnings. To manage the registration and data collection of IoT devices we propose the development of an IoT Hub, which basically is an IoT Data Platform with a wide range of integration options. The main objective of this thesis is the study and selection of a platform that can be used to manage IoT devices and facilitate registration and data management.
