ErgoFeet – Health Professionals' Ergonomics Monitoring with Foot Plantar Pressure Analysis

Description:

Nowadays, the growth of wearable technology has made it possible to progressively monitor more parameters unobtrusively. With this in mind, this project proposes the development of an unobtrusive and pervasive method for health professionals’ ergonomics monitoring at the workplace, focusing in prolonged standing periods, to minimize the risk of musculoskeletal injuries associated with standing tasks.

Outcome:

The main outcome of this project shall consist in a proof-of-concept tool for the automatic assessment of the correctness of health professional’s posture while performing prolonged standing tasks (e.g. surgery), based on the analysis of foot plantar pressure from wearable smart insoles.
