Fraunhofer Center for Assistive Information and Communication Solutions – AICOSAICOS` master thesis students Oleksandr Kruk and Rui Marques were awarded an honorable mention at the Vodafone Mobile Data Challenge 2012 with their project PostboxWeb.
The Vodafone Mobile Data Challenge is an event by Vodafone Portugal where student teams are invited to submit ideas that can materialize into real benefits for Vodafone`s customers and the society in general.
The PostboxWeb is a solution for rural areas in Sub Saharan Africa, where poor network coverage poses a big barrier to information access. The solution allows to easily build new offline capable applications for shared smartphones.
