Fraunhofer Portugal’s presence at the AAL Forum 2013

Fraunhofer AICOS will participate for the fifth time in one of the main and recurrent events related to Ambient Assisted Living in Europe – the AAL Forum. This year’s edition will take place on September 24th to the 26th and will be held in Norrköping, Sweden.

The AAL Forum is the annual platform for the increasing European AAL community to meet and discuss several topics, relevant for improving the AAL JP as well as the adoption of AAL solutions in the market.  The four main themes for this year’s forum will be:

> Autonomy, choice and control – AAL solutions impact on individuals – autonomy and ability to choose how to spend their days and live their lives.

> The ageing society – end-user studies and inclusion – Older adults as a collective and integrated part of the society.

> AAL and the economy – Economic aspects of AAL solutions – economic growth through new ideas, a new branch and new solutions

> Programmes and policies in Europe – AAL on the European level – implementation and policy strategies.

With more than 60 exhibitors and participants from all over Europe, the AAL Forum is an excellent opportunity for Fraunhofer Portugal to showcase its recent project activities, contributing to the promotion and debate of ideas and solutions for enhancing the quality of life of older people through the use of ICT in their daily environment.

This year, Fraunhofer Portugal will be present in two booths, one of which will be displaying AICOS’ projects as well as some of our students’ thesis ideas. The other will display the AAL4ALL project which is currently being developed by Fraunhofer AICOS in cooperation with 34 Portuguese interdisciplinary partners.
