ChefMyself in the final of the Innova eVIA awards

This year, the ChefMyself project was amongst the finalists of the Innova eVIA awards, in the ‘INNOVA eVIA Project 2015’ category. The awards ceremony took place on the 4th of November, in Madrid (Spain), within the 2015 eVIA Assembly, and ChefMyself was at the exhibition along with the other finalists.

There were many representatives of companies, R&D units and end-user organisations interested in the project throughout the exhibition and the reactions were very positive. Based on their own background experience, several interlocutors opened our eyes to examples of other user groups who could one day benefit from ChefMyself, ranging from blind people to people with mental impairment.

eVIA is a Spanish Technology Platform for Health and Active and Independent life. With the goal of promoting R&D in the fields of health and active ageing, each year eVIA organizes the Innova eVIA awards.

eVIA was founded in December 2007 under the name of ‘Plataforma Tecnológica Española de Tecnologías para la Vida Independiente y la Accesibilidad’, with the push of the ONCE Foundation (Fundación ONCE para la Cooperación e Inclusión Social de Personas con Discapacidad) and AMETIC (Asociación Multisectorial de Empresas de la Electrónica, las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación, de las Telecomunicaciones y de los Contenidos Digitales) , co-financed by the Ministry of Industry, supported by the Center for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) and by the then Ministry of Science and Innovation, current Secretary of State for Research, attached to the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.

ChefMyself’s main goal is to develop a customizable, open and extensible (ICT) service ecosystem built around an automatic cooking solution to support elderly people preparing meals and maintaining healthy eating habits. The main focus is to increase the motivation of elderly people for a healthy diet. Firstly by supporting them to eat healthy food and secondly by performing activities through participation in virtual social networks. The cooking activities directly support their eating habits, avoiding nutritional problems related to aging.
