Develop dynamic interactions between scientific and technological entities is one of the purposes of the INTERFACE Programme, that intends to promote scientific and technological knowledge transfer for companies and for society. The innovation process is only possible with the improvement of technological infrastructures and with the strengthening of financial and human resources, which allows to increase investigation and development (I&D) cooperation networks, to appreciate the knowledge, to create products, services and companies based on science and technology. To make partnerships between high education institutions and CIT, as well as strength international connections and network interactions, are also essential to disseminate knowledge.

Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS is the first Portuguese centre of Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, created in partnership with University of Porto. The research work of this centre is oriented toward concrete applications and results, based on the performance of the funding model operated by Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. The model operated by the German institution, well tested and undisputedly successful, supports economic development and social well-being by contributing to the population’s quality of life.

The INTERFACE Programme is part of the Portuguese National Reform Programme and was developed by the Ministries of Economy, Planning and Infrastructure, Science, Technology and Higher Education.
