Fraunhofer AICOS Intelligent Systems was featured in “Data science in (astro)particle physics and the bridge to industry Symposium 2019”

1.4.2019

Fraunhofer AICOS’ Intelligent Systems strategy, which focuses on building solutions for business fields where intelligent ICT is emerging as a way to optimise resources and processes, was showcased in this year’s edition of “Data science in (astro)particle physics and the bridge to industry Symposium”, hosted by LIP – Laboratório de Instrumentação e Física Experimental de Partículas.

Inês Sousa, Fraunhofer AICOS’ Head of Intelligent Systems, was one of the guest Speakers in the “Data science in (astro)particle physics and the bridge to industry Symposium 2019”, presenting in detail our competencies in Intelligent Systems, where we research and develop ways in which technology can augment human potential in interpreting vast amounts of data, identifying patterns, anticipating events and supporting decisions.

AICOS’ Intelligent Systems group focuses on building solutions for business fields where intelligent ICT is emerging, allowing for people to achieve more through the optimisation of resources and processes. The particular scientific and technical skills of our Intelligent Systems group place AICOS precisely at the epicentre of the digital transformation that is currently taking place, boosted by the exponential availability of accessible data and of the required computing power to process it. This is leading to the widespread use of intelligent systems based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) with potential to disrupt every industry field, transforming the ways of production, management and governance.

The Intelligent Systems group is composed of researchers with in-depth expertise in areas such as Computer Vision, Time Series Analysis and Machine Learning, the nuclear areas required to develop systems with the ability to perceive, analyse, learn and ultimately reason about the environments they must operate in, which are fundamental competencies demanded by a fully digitalised world of increasing complexity.

“Data science in (astro)particle physics and the bridge to industry Symposium” is an event hosted by “LIP – Laboratório de Instrumentação e Física Experimental de Partículas” with the purpose of showing the potential of data science in modern society and stimulating synergies between fundamental research and industry.
