Fraunhofer AICOS’ scientific team is growing

We are happy to welcome to our team at AICOS three new senior researchers: Ricardo Melo (Ph.D. in Design) joining the Human-Centred Design team; António Júnior (Ph.D. in Computer Science) joining the Connected Things team; and Diego Esteves (Ph.D. candidate in Mathematics and Computer Science) joining the Intelligent Systems team.

 

Ricardo Melo is a designer, researcher and a professor. He holds a degree in Communication Design, a M.Sc. in Multimedia and has recently concluded his Ph.D. in Design. Ricardo was part of our Fraunhofer AICOS team for 6 years, and is now returning after finishing his Ph.D, as part of our Human-Centred Design.

António Júnior is a professor and a researcher with 14 years of experience, having worked mainly in areas like Internet of Things, Smart Cities, Wireless Networks, Software Defined Networking and Energy Efficiency and will be joining our Connected Things team. He Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Informatics, a M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Computer Science.

Diego Esteves is a computer scientist with over 10 years of combined experience in the industry and academia, working primarily with fact-checking and information retrieval topics at the intersection of Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and Semantic Web. Holds a technical degree in Data Processing, a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, an MBA in Software Engineering, an M.Sc. in Machine Learning and is currently Ph.D. candidate in Mathematics and Computer Science and will be part of the Intelligent Systems team.
