The project MobileDRS, led by FIRST Solutions SA, is a mobile solution for the risk assessment of diabetic retinopathy by image processing.
The project will be focused on the screening of preliminary diabetic retinopathy, through a low cost tool for image acquisition, controlled by Android App with smartphone-based image processing to improve the quality of the images (multi-image denoising techniques and stitching) to process and integrate with First Solutions’ screening information system.
The mobile solution must be integrated with this information system for management of Population Screening Programmes, since it allows the implementation of the functional circuit from the examination invitation to treatment and follow-up.

Outcome:
The mobile solution will be integrated in an information system for management of population screening programmes, called SiiMA Rastreios, which allows the implementation of the functional circuit from the examination invitation to treatment and follow-up.
MobileDRS project may play a future role in covering isolated populations using a mobile and low cost device, reducing costs for the Health Ministry and enhancing the effectiveness of screening programmes.
